How to get involved…

The Consortium is built on partnership. It brings together researchers, educators, local authority leads, policymakers, and third-sector partners in equal measure to improve primary-secondary school transitions outcomes. This reflects our belief in the importance of lived experience - meaningful change in primary-secondary school transitions has to be shaped by the people living it, not just those researching it.

This principle has guided our work from the outset. We have conducted extensive research and stakeholder consultation to inform the development of our National Consortium and to ensure it stays grounded in current practice, issues and legislation, and aligned with what our community needs.

Ways to get involved:

There are several ways to get involved, whatever your role or level of time available.

 For educators

  • Contribute your experience of supporting primary-secondary school transitions to the Advice Forum and learn from peers across the UK.

  • Share evidence-informed and school-tested transitions resources to the Resource Repository, turning your classroom-tested approaches into practical resources every school can use.

  • Pilot and feedback on best-practice guidance and resources.

  • Nominate a transitions lead in your school to act as our point of contact, who can get involved in our regional Communities of Practice

For researchers and academics

  • Contribute your research findings, tools and/or interventions to the Resource Repository.

  • Get involved in our regional Communities of Practice, bringing together research and practice.

  • Collaborate on future research studies addressing priority gaps identified through our National Primary-Secondary School Transitions Strategy.

 For policymakers and regulators

  • Champion our evidence-based policy recommendations, outlined in our National Primary-Secondary School Transitions Strategy, for adoption at a statutory, national level.

  • Support the Consortium's work to turn research and lived experience into practical, deliverable policy.

 For charities and third-sector organisations
