Advice Forum

This is a dedicated space for practitioners to collaborate, exchange expertise, and work through shared challenges related to supporting primary-secondary school transitions by sharing what works, asking questions, and learning from colleagues facing similar issues across the UK. This extends to the interventions and resources featured in our Resource Repository, where further detail is needed on how an approach was implemented, or how it might be adapted for your own setting, the forum provides a channel through which to seek clarification and support wider dissemination across the network.

Why we built this forum: At present, support for school transitions is developed largely in isolation, with each of England's approximately 25,000 schools designing and implementing their own approaches, and little collaboration or partnership working between them. The Advice Forum was established to address this gap, giving practitioners a direct route to share knowledge, expertise and practical advice, and to reduce the duplicated effort that comes from developing provision independently.

What the forum is for:

  • Sharing your experience of managing primary-secondary school transitions within your own school or setting

  • Raising questions and seeking advice from practitioners facing similar challenges

  • Discussing the interventions and resources featured in the repository, and their effectiveness in practice

  • Identifying gaps where further guidance or resources are required

  • Connecting with practitioners across your region or nation

Community guidelines (summary): This is a supportive, professional space for practitioners to learn from one another. We ask all members to share constructively, respect confidentiality around pupils and schools, and keep discussions focused on improving primary-secondary school transitions support for children.
